A very fine French violin bow by Justin Poirson, made in Paris, c.1875. Round stick of flamed golden pernambuco, mounted in silver and ebony. This bow is a beautiful example of the early work of the maker, after leaving the Vuillaume firm. In excellent condition.
History & Provenance
POIRSON, Justin Born 1851 Mirecourt, died 1925 Paris France. Bow maker. Pupil of Maire from 1865. Worked for J. B. Vuillaume and for Gand and Bernardel on a Voirin inspired model. Established independently 1880. Murdered in his very diminished lodgings in 1925.
