This bow is in very good condition, and is a good example of the makers work.

A fine and beautiful silver and ebony mounted cello bow by Edgar Bishop for W.E. Hill&Sons. Made in London, England, c.1925. Octagonal stick of dark chocolate-coloured pernambuco with solid silver metalwork.

In a pure state of preservation, this lovely bow is a classy example of the early W.E. Hill&Sons firm.

A very fine and pure gold and tortoiseshell violin bow by Edgar Bishop for W.E.Hill&Sons. Made in London, England, 1924. Octagonal stick of orange-honey coloured pernambuco with solid gold metalwork. 

A perfectly preserved example of the finest output of the early Hill firm. Edgar Bishop and Albert Leeson were so adept at making the no.1 gold and tortoiseshell bows that they were known as the ‘gold squad’.

A fine gold and ebony mounted violin bow by Percival Wilfred Bryant, of Ovingdean, England. Octagonal stick, made of chocolate coloured pernambuco, with deep grain. 

Bryant worked for George Withers in Leicester Square for some time, then established himself in Brighton. Noted for exceptional quality bows but is one of the rare British makers never to have worked at W.E.Hill & Sons. The bow is in fine condition and is marked Z2 under the frog.

A fine old viola by Giuseppe Guadagnini, Milan, Italy. c.1790. Typical light-red varnish over a golden ground, although not much remains. The viola has been at some point reduced, then re-enlarged to its supposed proportions during the 20th Century. 

In a restored state of preservation.

This bow is in very fine condition.

A fine and rare gold and tortoiseshell mounted Violin Bow by Otto Hoyer "Pariser" of Markneukirchen, Germany. Round stick, made of dark golden-coloured pernambuco. 

The bow is in excellent condition, with some slight mite damage to the tortoiseshell, and a very beautiful example of the makers work.

A very clean example of the elegance of the great German maker’s work. In excellent condition.

A fine German violin bow by Hermann Richard Pfretzschner, made in Markneukirchen, c.1905. 

Octagonal stick of dark chocolate pernambuco, with plain frog mounted in Silver and Ebony. This Tourte model is an excellent example of the talents of the great German maker, after returning from his time in Paris with J.B.Vuillaume. 

Unusually and rarely, the “purveyor to the Royal Saxon Court’ emblem is emblazoned on the head rather than the frog, perhaps to preserve the beauty of the solid piece of beautiful ebony.

Excellent condition.

A fine silver and ebony mounted cello bow by Jean Pico, made in Algiers, Algeria, Northern Africa. C.1920. Round stick, made of beautiful medium flamed, dark orange pernambuco.

This bow is in very good condition. Replacement mounts were made for comfort as the originals are slightly shallow, however they are in fine condition also and sold with the bow.

A very fine French violin bow by Justin Poirson, made in Paris, c.1875.

This bow is a beautiful example of the early work of the maker, after leaving the Vuillaume firm. In excellent condition.



A nickel and ebony violin bow by Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy, made in Mirecourt, France, c.1870. Octagonal stick made of light-orange-brown pernambuco. 

This bow is in good condition, and is a typical example of the JTL firm's output around the late 19th Century.

A beautiful English violin bow by Sidney Yeoman for W.E.Hill&Sons, made in London, c.1900.

Finest pernambuco, typical of the early output from the Hill firm. Mounted in silver and tortoiseshell.

Stick in extremely fine condition, frog with some restoration to the tortoiseshell.
