A fine German violin bow by Hermann Richard Pfretzschner, made in Markneukirchen, c.1905. Octagonal stick of dark chocolate pernambuco, with plain frog mounted in Silver and Ebony. This Tourte model is an excellent example of the talents of the great German maker, after returning from his time in Paris with J.B.Vuillaume. Unusually and rarely, the “purveyor to the Royal Saxon Court’ emblem is emblazoned on the head rather than the frog, perhaps to preserve the beauty of the solid piece of beautiful ebony. Excellent condition.
